Hello, everyone.
I'd like people who've downloaded the HQ versions of the DVD (all 9 GiBs of it) to assist in seeding the torrent. It's currently only at TPB, I'm pending registration from other sites.
URL: http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4197838/HIAE
Simply DL the torrent, point the DL directory to where you've put the files (actually I'd ask you to put the files in a subdir called HIAE DVD and point to that directory's root dir), and your BitTorrent client should check (takes a while) and start seeding like mad. If it doesn't find the files, just navigate each file to where it's actually at (as said, the torrent puts the files in a HIAE DVD subdir), and let the client check.
At the moment I'm the only one seeding, but I suppose Eric Sodomka could help - it should take some of the load off his website, too, but I'd like about 4 - 8 people on it.
My server's currently on it as the only one and it's slower than the actual website, which is kind of sad. :-)

I hardly know what a torrent is... but I have a cable connection. If I can be of any help, just let me know in detail (if possible) the step-by-steps that need to be done.
Many thanks :)

Let's see... Download the HQ clips preferably from this site (it's faster), then, go download a BitTorrent client (Like uTorrent, from their site (http://download.utorrent.com/1.7.7/utorrent.exe)), then, set it up (remember to notice where it downloads torrents to.
The path to where it downloads torrents to will be called The Download Folder now.
Go to this folder. Make a new folder called "HIAE DVD", and put all the clips that you downloaded from the start there. Then, get the torrent linked to in the first post and open it with your bittorrent client.
If it starts specifically *downloading* then you've done it wrong. :-)
What you want it to do is "Checking" for about 20-30 minutes, untill it realizes, you have the entire damn thing, and then starts "Seeding". If you need to, I believe uTorrent fancies a limiter.

Thank you chaingeling, I'll have to set this up tonight when I get home... currently I already downloaded all the highquality clips for the $4.95 DVD project. :)
As long as I follow your directions correctly, things should be okay. Thank you for posting this.

Ok, I have it up and running... I noticed thepiratebay site had an interesting comment left:
bander49 at 2008-05-22 03:08 CET:
What the ####.... is this?
"How it all ends" don't mean a **** to me.
Do you really think I gonna waste time downloading this crap?
Get a life man!
*sigh*

I was going to post the following:
Nobody's forcing you to watch one of the most thorough movies on Global Climate Destabilization out there in High Quality.
You could just watch it on YouTube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=mF_anaVcCXg
This is just the HQ version of it - which is also available at http://manpollo.org/downloads/high-res/high-res.html
Then again, if you don't care what happens to the world around you, I don't really think it cares about what happens to you, either. And it's got the advantage - it doesn't need you to live.
But there appears to occur an error.. :-/
// Update-Edit:
Appears links aren't allowed, so I just removed them.

Update:
Files have been downloaded roughly 9 times. I'll try to keep posting. :-)

I recommend using "Force re-check" or similar before seeding. (...after manual download and placing files in the torrent directory).
Most Torrent programs are able to ceck that files are okay, which is pretty darn vital if you ask me... No use uploading corrupt or incomplete material.
That being said; Nice job uploading & seeding. Help is coming. :)
If you can upload the "medium quality" files as well, it would probably help spreading the message faster. Not every1 is able to download and share almost 10 GB data, and with the fast pace of most peoples lives, waiting for more than a few minutes is something few are inclined to do... Also: If the torrent is posted with an index (text), listing the various episodes, it would be easier to pick and choose what videos to download.

Hmm, that uTorrent client seems to only have the TPB as a "tracker" (whatever that is), it keeps telling me its "offline". Is everything working ok? Or did I mess something up with a setting?
I also tried to include the medium resolution videos, but it just seemed to hang or timeout, it didn't even check the video's I already had :(
I fail?

It does only have TPB as a tracker. Bloody alternate sites haven't yielded any response - not that I'm surprised. They're about as paranoid as a ex-P.O.W. going to vacation in the wrong country.
The fact that it's "offline" seems to indicate your ISP is blocking TPB as a site. This is actually quite illegal, but let's just let that rest.. I will try to put up alternate spots for the torrent, although so far, I've found none.
If you find an alternate torrentsite where you'd want it, do it post here. :-)
Remember, that the High Quality and Medium Quality files are represented as two different torrents - these torrents represent the files you want to download - one for the HQ and one for the MQ, so including the videos for the MQ in the HQ torrent will fail.
However, as the tracker (basically put, the server that keeps "track" of all the various people trying to download the files represented by the torrent, thus the name) is offline it won't do much good - it keeps track of the files validity etc.

I've been able to upload & share both sets of files.
So far, I've uploaded 830MB of the medium quality version.
I see 2 seeds, and either 1 or 2 peers in my torrent program.
I suspect the following type upload might be more useful & popular:
An ISO file of the rdy made DVD (with menus etc), split into 14MB chunks using WinRAR.
This is to get file integrity checking when extracting.
If there's an error, just re-download the damaged part/chunk - no need to get the entire ISO.

Agreed, and I would, but I don't have the DVD - much less can I afford it. It should be easy for the people who made the DVD to create the torrent, though.

The "Single Disc Edition (http://www.createspace.com/250194)" is $5.82 ... some people spend more on coffee each morning ;)
The proof was shipped on Wednesday and I should be getting it either today or Monday. Once I approve it, it will be available for purchase online.
If I knew how to make a torrent I would set it up. :)

If you've still got the torrent proggy, all you need to do is use it to create a torrent - the only tricky part is using a tracker - I suggest http://tpb.tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announce (ThePirateBay's tracker). It's the largest one out there afterall. :-)
